Description
Jayhawk Pecan is a seedling of Giles selected by Lewis Harris of Wichita, KS. It is scab resistant and ripens about 10 days after Pawnee. Pollination is type 2. Being a seedling of Giles, it is about the same size which is a good thing. It can overbear which can effect quality and it tends to have a blotchy kernel that some find unappealing. Flavor is not affected though. Nut size runs about 68 nuts per pound and 51% kernel
