Description
Colby Pecan was named in 1957. the original tree was a wild seedling in the Kaskaskia River bottom near Carlisle IL. Colby has been the standard for cold hardy rootstocks for many years. The seedlings grow vigorously.
Nuts average 72 nuts per pound and 45% kernel and is a type 2 pollinator.
The Colby Pecan is susceptible to scab but otherwise is a good choice for northern growers. Tree structure is strong with good resistance to ice and wind.
