The Shepherd Pecan is a native seedling from Chariton County Missouri. The tree was recognized by Jerrell Shepherd as a top quality nut producer and was purchased from Vernon Munson in 1978.
The tree is a type 1 pollen producer and is pecan scab resistant. The easy shelling nuts ripen 6 days before Pawnee. Shepherd is a large pecan at 71 per pound.
Shepherd Pecan bears a crop most every year.
Shepherd is a good pollinator for Kanza and Lakota Pecans.
