Lucas Pecan Now Available
The Lucas Pecan was named in Ohio in 1965. It was selected for its early ripening date, around September 15th, and its abundant crop of small sweet nuts. Nut size is small, between 90 and 108 per pound but the early ripening date makes it possible to grow pecans beyond the normal pecan range. Nuts shell nicely and the color and flaver are very good.
The tree form is small and willowy, unusual for a pecan tree. This would be a good yard tree for far northern pecan growers.
