This is a tough shrub that has been around a long time. Abelias staying power can be attributed to its versatility. It can be shaped and used as a hedge, a free formed bush, or shaped as a globe or other geometric shapes.
Pruning in late winter will encourage branching and thicken the texture of the plant. Pruning at this time will remove any winter damage and produce more blooms as Abelia flowers are always on new wood.
The flowers of Glossy Abelia are fragrant and white in color with a pinkish blush. Honeybees are attracted to Abelia flowers and the long bloom period from May until September ensures a continuous supply of nectar and pollen .
