Description

Eastern Swamp Privet- Foresteira acuminata is a native tree with an unfortunate name. It is entirely unrelated  both by family and by habit to the more familiar and more invasive Common Privet that is not native. This is a Plain Jane native shrub that blooms in late spring. It likes rich moist soils. It might have room for improvement as a landscape tree with a little attention and care. Blue fruit in late summer are relished by migrating birds
