Deer Magnet Persimmon

Deer Magnet Persimmon is a very late ripening persimmon. Fruit hangs and drops well into December. This tree was a favorite of wildlife and late season persimmon gatherers at Jerry Lehemans orchard in Indiana. Large orange fruit is good tasting for the hunter and the deer.

Persimmons drop when the weather turns. To keep feed on the ground before and after that window, add a patch of sunchokes. Deer work the tops all summer and dig the tubers once the ground softens up.
