Why we use root pruning bags
What you see above the ground needs to be supported by what is below the ground. Roots are far more delicate than the above ground part of the tree. Trees dug and shipped bare root wind up with dried out roots and missing roots since the roots in the ground reach far beyond the dig zone. Our root pruning containers gently and naturally prune the major roots and encourage the tree to grow lots of small feeder roots. These smaller roots are there to immediately establish your tree and start feeding it in its new home.
Our trees come in 1 gallon and 2 gallon root pruning containers. They are more mature than what most farms sell online. They have thicker trunks, fuller branching, and a dense web of feeder roots.
This means your tree is far more likely to:

More About Me
Folks often ask how I got into this line of work. I always wanted to farm, and a few key friends coached me into it as a profession. I started growing Farm to Table Produce about the time it became a thing without knowing I was at the forefront of a movement in local agriculture. I had the great pleasure of working with some great creative chefs who pushed me to grow unusual fruits and vegetables
I started Rock Bridge Trees because there are generations of knowledge about improved tree crops that are not being promoted to the public. Long before I started farming, I met several very interesting tree collectors who had scoured the country and collaborated with others to gather the best of the best that America and the World had to offer in our temperate climate. It may be odd to collect trees but, it is the only way to preserve precious germplasm for the future.
