Description
Kiowa Pecan is from a cross made by the USDA in College Station Texas in 1953. The cross was supposed to be Mahan x Odom but later genetic testing showed it was Mahan x Desireable. Thge nuts are very large at 48 nuts per pound and 53% kernel, This is a heavy bearing tree and to its dissadvantage the heavy crop can cause it to alternate bear.
Tree form is good. Scab resistance is variable. Pollination is type 2 Caddo and Pawnee would be good pollinators.
