Buddy Tape

Buddy Tape is a grafting tape developed by the Japanese company, Aglis, specifically for graftng professionals. The Japanese have a highly developed agricultural system. Agriculture there is a highly esteemed career. Other products used as a grafting tape have been adapted for other disciplines, such as the medical field. While these products work, I find them to be stiffer and more difficult to use, especially with small diameter material and delicate grafts.

Buddy Tape is very flexible and form fitting, when stretched. It stretches easily but retains its integrity well. The material allows sunlight in and slows transpiration from the scions. This gives the plant time to heal the graft union before it can dry out.

The rolls we sell are perforated and are 1″ wide by  2 3/4″ long unstretched pieces. There are nearly 900 pieces on a roll. A new roll is 1″ wide by 3 3/4″ in diameter. The tape breaks down in sunlight over time and does not have to be removed from the graft. It will not girdle the tree.

We are offering one roll of tape priced with free shipping. There will always be less expensive products on the market and other sizes of buddy tape are less expensive. But narrower, shorter perforated tape means it takes two or more pieces to do a single graft.
