My pecans are still flowering here in Tennessee in late May. I took some pictures of the female flowers and a few of the male catkins to show what the different varieties look like. These trees were planted in 2012 and 2013. Almost all the trees have at least one female flower cluster.
It is likely that the timing of the bloom is off schedule because of the young age of the trees. We have had a cool wet spring until about two weeks ago and it is now hot and dry.
Time will tell if these tiny flowers were pollinated. If they were, nuts will begin their summers growth and a small harvest will come this fall. If not, they will dry up and fall off and the trees will try again next spring
